Announcing an end of our in-store tax-free purchasing service

Dear Customers,

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of BUNGUBOX.

Due to changes in Japan’s tax-free shopping rules starting November 1, 2026, we will be discontinuing our in-store tax-free shopping service at the end of October, 2026.

As compliance to the new rules requires the deployment of new software and services, we do not have a schedule for if or when we will be reinstating a tax-free purchase option that complies with the new “airport refund system”.

For customers residing overseas, you can still purchase tax-free through our online store, and we encourage you to take advantage of this service.
Please note that shipping fees will apply separately, and customs duties may be incurred upon delivery.  
We will NOT be able to offer in-store pickup of online orders, as we are required to charge Japanese consumption tax on any purchases received within Japan.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
